BlogCrush – modite
I first came upon the modite blog when Rebecca was kind enough to become my fan on the Brazen Careerist website. As I was writing my post here about dating in a world with social media I found a post from a revelation about her dating life and a work/life balance and I pretty much fell in love with her blog. While a lot of Gen Y people write about either their lives (exclusively) their careers (exclusively) or social media (exclusively) on blogs, Rebecca manages to interweave all the topics seamlessly in and out of her blog posts.
As I learned more about Rebecca and the modite brand I found everything to be even more intriguing. She managed to create a new word to describe herself (modite – a modern urbanite or yuppie with a social conscious), she has – quite possibly – one of the coolest 9-5 jobs ever in which she pitches social media and toilet paper for alice.com, and she is willing to expose so much of herself to her readers in a quest to learn some and teach more.
I can truly say that whenever Rebecca’s posts show up in my RSS I’m quick to read them before even getting to anyone else’s (sorry blogosphere!) Heck, I even commented with a note that now shows up a random quoted praise for the modite blog. I sometimes worry that she’ll start to get a little creeped out at how much I like her stuff, but since she lives hundreds of miles away I can safely say she’s free from any SWF tendencies (that and the whole fact that I’m not crazy that way!) Plus, there’s the fact that I’m not alone in my admiration.
If you want some great, honest, and thoughtful advice from a woman who maybe doesn’t always know it all but is making a valiant run at it, check out the modite blog.
