BlogCrush – Jenny Blake
Every week I’ll be updating The Webb with a little ditty about my most recent blogcrush – a blog that I follow frequently and find inspiration, laughter and deep thoughts from. You know who they are, those bloggers that you’ve never even met but you feel a strange connection…you almost have a little crush on them? These are most definitely folks on my blog roll, and if you are reading and subscribing to The Webb they should be on yours, too.
You know that scene where Elle Woods brings Brooke Taylor Windham a care package in jail and she includes a copy of Cosmo magazine “cause it’s the Bible.” Well, this week’s #BlogCrush is like a brunette Elle Woods, and her site (Life After College) is like the young professional’s Bible. I first “met” Jenny Blake after I saw my (at least) 25th friend on Twitter tell me that I should be following her. Not even kidding, everyone on the bluebird network seems to love this girl and I wanted to find out if all the hype was worth it.
I can say, without a doubt, that it totally IS worth it. Aside from the fact that Life After College is one of my favorite designed blog sites on the web, Jenny offers graduates and young professionals tips and resources to use in matters of life, work, money, happiness, personal growth and more. Considering the content and posts that come from her site, you’d expect her to be one of those uber-pretentious super sophisticated wicked smart women that you are uber-intimidated by. However by the second or third sentence of her posts, you realize that she is a down-to-earth cupcake loving girl who has figured out a lot, continues to figure out more, and is willing to expose herself and share for the progression of her readers. Really, how can you not love that
Even though we learn a lot about how to do our job or pursue our interests in college, no one is really teaching us how to navigate the rest of it. Jenny’s writes about the real life applications of things that should be simple, like how to divide up your paycheck or how to stay organized. She is always showing how to use different programs, services or books to change our own lives and understand a little more. She is also expanding to include some great guest posts from more regular folks who have figured some things out and want to share. Basically, Life After College is like a huge learning forum, but SO much more fun!! (And filled with emoticons and exclamation points, yet another reason I adore Jenny!)
If you are looking for a Bible or blueprint of sorts on navigating this “growned-up” post-graduate young professional life from a cupcake loving brunette Elle Woods, check out Life After College.

Ooooh! I've never heard of her blog. I'll check it out.
Erin – That's the beauty of a #BlogCrush, learning about the great bloggers you may not have heard of before!
Jenny is one of the best out there – her financial wisdom and ability to connect the 'serious' issues we face with the average Joe separate her from the rest. Kudos to both of you!
Elisa – I am utterly blown away, honored and humbled by this incredible write-up. To be a blog crush in the first place is so cool, but the depth of your post is what really hit me. I feel like you know me even though we've never met. Thank you for making my entire day, week, month. This is the keeper of all keepers, and I've already printed a copy to read when I need a pick-me-up.
And Matt – you are so sweet too! Thanks for all of your continued support – the feeling is mutual: I learn more and more from you every day.
HUGS, CUPCAKES AND EMOTICONS ALL AROUND!!!
<3
[3 (that last one is a cupcake…what do you think??)
Haha Jenny, I love your cupcake emoticon
Echoing everyone here and I look forward to Elisa's blog crushes because she clearly spends a lot of invested time understanding the person, reading their writing and perusing their additional content online.
Jenny is amazing and her blog posts are always informative. I have a takeaway each time I'm done reading one of her posts. Go Jenny and cupcakes!
Matt – I agree, it is part of what is so great about Jenny’s blog. Her wisdom and advice is REALLY good and very pertinent, but she writes it so accessibly because she is a very real and down-to-Earth gal!
Jenny – I’m glad you enjoyed it, thank YOU for writing such a great blog that doing a write-up for you was super easy. I LOVE the cupcake emoticon too, I think you should trademark that thing!
Grace – Thanks for the kind words. I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback on the #BlogCrush series, and recently some negative, so it’s nice to hear that people understand and respect the idea of the series, not the “hype” of it.
Another great choice, and wonderfully written post! Jenny is an amazing person and a talented writer…definitely crush-worthy
I love Jenny's blog and was so happy to see that you wrote about it! What a great blog to have a blog crush on!
Your blog is pretty awesome too.
Elisa – Great post! You really brought to fruition what Jenny B is all about
I think the BEST part is that she is equally as great in real-life. We had the chance to hang for a bit and even eat some cupcakes last time I was in the Bay Area and she really is a complete class act.
Great choice!
Grace, Sam, PP, Ben – thank you all so much for the amazing comments and support – I am overwhelmed!
Ben – you conveniently left out the part about me being CRAZY in person, so thanks ;D
Happy Friday everyone!
Jenny
