BlogCrush – Sean Ogle
Every week I’ll be updating The Webb with a little ditty about my most recent blogcrush – a blog that I follow frequently and find inspiration, laughter and deep thoughts from. You know who they are, those bloggers that you’ve never even met but you feel a strange connection…you almost have a little crush on them? These are most definitely folks on my blog roll, and if you are reading and subscribing to The Webb they should be on yours, too.
It was bound to happen. And today it will. The #BlogCrush is becoming 2-dimensional. Coming FROM Portland, ME it’s all about a blogger over in Portland, OR. It’s like we are defying the laws of physics or something! I first learned about Sean Ogle’s blog, Location 180, thru a former #BlogCrush’s bi-monthly Top 10 Gen Y Blogs. See Sean came out of no where (to me) in the August ballot and rightfully claimed a tie for the #1 position in October. One of the things I LOVE about Sean is that even though he almost managed to unseat the perennial Top 10 winner, he barely mentioned the win.* Instead just how honored he was to make the list.
Sean is part of a growing subset of bloggers writing about location independence and lifestyle design. There are tons of other blogs out there writing the same thing, so what makes Sean’s so special? Well, in addition to his ideas on the two topics, Sean created his own list. Not just a simple 7 Things To Do Before I’m 30 list, but a massive 100 bullet point bucket list of sorts that focuses intensively on travel and happiness in his life. In fact he admits that the site was originally a method for him to hold himself accountable to the accomplishment of his ever-evolving list. Fortunately for us we get to come along for the ride.
Sean’s bucket list and stories about it are reason enough to follow Location 180, but amazingly there’s even more. While doing things like seeing Dave Matthews at the Gorges and visiting one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Earth should be enough to inflate an ego to spew nothing but awesomeness at his accomplishments, Sean is actually very realistic about his goals. And he devotes a lot of his writing to a little about him but also encouraging and challenging his readers to pursue their dreams. In terms of modest blogging, Sean is one of the classiest acts I’ve found.
If you are looking for some great insight into lifestyle design from someone with a passion for travel and dreams through the stratosphere but still grounded to Earth, then I suggest you check out Location 180.
* In the interest of full disclosure he DID mention Ophelia’s Webb in the comments as one of the blogs he follows. However Sean becoming a #BlogCrush was mulling around in my mind long before the October results came out.
