Pas de Deux Series
I love love.
I know, lots of people say it. Mostly sappy folks who walk around with their heads in the clouds, oblivious to the harsh realities of love and life. Like a live-action role play of episodes of Rainbow Brite.
There is nothing so capable of pulling from us brilliant awe as love.
Not only that romantic love that some are lucky enough to experience while the rest wait for Prince Charming to come and create their own happily ever after. Love permeates the very fibers of our being. It speaks to our depths, in the dark nooks and crannies that we did not know were there or had long since forgotten.
You can love your job. You can love nature. You can love a child. You can love a hobby or passion. You can love experiences. You can love friends. You can love a piece of art or a song.
I cannot think of another word in any language that has so many applications.
Last year for the month of February I ran the All You Need series here on Ophelia’s Webb. 28 contributors wrote about love from different perspectives, each bringing their own voice and observations on a variety of topics.
This year the Pas de Deux series will grace this site. Pas de Deux, for those unfamiliar, is a French dance (primarily ballet) term meaning “Dance of/for Two”. Not to mean that all the entries will be about pairing off. In fact, a majority submitted had nothing to do with romantic attachments.
As I worked on editing the submissions, formatting and coding all weekend I found myself smiling at sweet nothings evoked from stories and essays.
I am so very excited for the next 28 days worth of writing, reading and conversation about a truly revolutionary topic.
Will you join me?

In addition to the essays, each contributor has chosen a song that they feel represents love to them and complements their submission. A link at the end of their post will lead you to last.fm where you can find various methods of purchasing the tracks.
I have chosen a song by a local-Maine singer/songwriter that I have heard playing at various coffeehouses and pubs around Greater Portland. Alison’s song Follow Me encapsulates for me the beauty of being in love. Wanting to be by each others’ sides, roaming the world in search of adventures, coming home at night to sit together. I love it.
Fortunately Alison was gracious enough to let me offer a FREE DOWNLOAD of Follow Me to the readers of the Pas de Deux series, and I am so very grateful to be able to share it with you.
Please also visit Alison’s Reverb Nation page and get on board with this up-and-coming folk songstress.
Did you know I have a private newsletter that goes out ONLY to subscribers? It offers stories of travel adventures, writing brilliance, links to great content around the internet and other crazy shaningans.
